Fitness Award penalty rate multipliers
Multipliers apply to your OWN base hourly rate (find it on the Fair Work pay guide for your classification) — they are not full wage tables.
| Rate type | Full-time / part-time | Casual |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday | 125% | 130% |
| Sunday | 150% | 130% |
| Public holiday | 250% | 130% |
| Overtime — Mon–Sat, first 2 hours | 150% | 150% |
| Overtime — Mon–Sat, after 2 hours | 200% | 200% |
| Overtime — Sunday | 200% | 200% |
Unusual casual structure: the Fair Work pay guide publishes a SINGLE blended casual "ordinary hours" rate of 130% of the base rate that covers Saturday, Sunday AND public holiday alike — unlike every other award in this dataset, casuals do not get a higher rate for Sunday or public holiday than for Saturday. This is a literal pay-guide figure, cross-checked as consistent across all 9 classification levels.
Casual overtime equals the full-time/part-time overtime rate — no extra casual loading stacks on overtime.
Delayed-meal-break and short-turnaround-between-shifts allowances also exist under this award but are not modelled here (they are compensation payments, not day/shift penalty rates).
Casual loading interaction
Casual employees under the Fitness Award get a 25% casual loading on their base hourly rate, in exchange for not receiving paid annual leave, personal/carer's leave or notice of termination. That loading generally stacks additively on top of weekend and public holiday penalties — e.g. a Sunday penalty of 150% for full-time staff becomes 130% for casuals under this award.
Check the notes in the table above — some awards (Hospitality, Restaurant) pay casuals the SAME overtime rate as full-time/part-time staff, with no extra casual loading stacked on overtime specifically.
