Fast Food Award penalty rate multipliers

Multipliers apply to your OWN base hourly rate (find it on the Fair Work pay guide for your classification) — they are not full wage tables.

Rate type Full-time / part-time Casual
Saturday 125% 150%
Sunday 150% 175%
Public holiday 225% 250%
Evening (Mon–Fri, 10pm–midnight) 110.0% 135%
Evening (Mon–Fri, midnight–6am) 115.0% 140%
Overtime — first 2 hours 150% 175%
Overtime — after 2 hours 200% 225%
Overtime — Sunday 200% 225%
Overtime — public holiday 250% 275%

Multipliers are anchored on Level 2 and Level 3 classifications, which are internally consistent; the published Level 1 Sunday figure in the FWO pay guide equals its Saturday figure and looks like an isolated pay-guide quirk rather than the general award rule — verify your own classification's Sunday rate against the Pay and Conditions Tool before relying on it.

Casual loading stacks on overtime in this award — casual overtime is the full-time overtime rate plus the 25% casual loading.

Casual loading interaction

Casual employees under the Fast Food Award get a 25% casual loading on their base hourly rate, in exchange for not receiving paid annual leave, personal/carer's leave or notice of termination. That loading generally stacks additively on top of weekend and public holiday penalties — e.g. a Sunday penalty of 150% for full-time staff becomes 175% for casuals under this award.

Check the notes in the table above — some awards (Hospitality, Restaurant) pay casuals the SAME overtime rate as full-time/part-time staff, with no extra casual loading stacked on overtime specifically.

Is this my exact pay rate?
This page applies the Fast Food Award's PERCENTAGE multipliers to an illustrative base rate — it does not look up your specific classification's minimum dollar rate. Confirm your classification and base rate on the Fair Work pay guide for this award, then use the penalty rates calculator to apply these multipliers to your own rate.
What if I work on a public holiday that falls on my usual day off?
Public holiday entitlements and substitution rules can be complex — check the full list of gazetted public holidays for your state and the award's specific public holiday clauses on the Fair Work public holidays page.
