Real Estate Award penalty rate multipliers
Multipliers apply to your OWN base hourly rate (find it on the Fair Work pay guide for your classification) — they are not full wage tables.
| Rate type | Full-time / part-time | Casual |
|---|---|---|
| Public holiday | 200% | 250% |
| Overtime — work on a day off or half day, first 2 hours | 150% | — |
| Overtime — work on a day off or half day, after 2 hours | 200% | — |
This award does not provide separate Saturday, Sunday or evening/night penalty rates — real estate employees' ordinary hours are rostered across all 7 days by agreement, so only public holiday work and overtime beyond the agreed roster attract a penalty.
Casual public holiday pay is calculated as the full-time/part-time public holiday rate × the 1.25 casual-loading factor (multiplicative), not the simple additive +25-percentage-point pattern most other awards in this dataset use.
The Fair Work pay guide does not publish a separate casual overtime rate for this award.
Casual loading interaction
Casual employees under the Real Estate Award get a 25% casual loading on their base hourly rate, in exchange for not receiving paid annual leave, personal/carer's leave or notice of termination. That loading generally stacks additively on top of weekend and public holiday penalties — e.g. a Sunday penalty of X% for full-time staff becomes a higher % for casuals under this award.
Check the notes in the table above — some awards (Hospitality, Restaurant) pay casuals the SAME overtime rate as full-time/part-time staff, with no extra casual loading stacked on overtime specifically.
