What counts as a new home?
- Off-the-plan apartments not previously occupied
- House and land packages
- Newly constructed homes
- Substantially renovated homes (never previously lived in after renovation)
The key criterion is that you're the first person to own it as a place of residence.
Eligibility requirements
- You must be 18 years or older
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Never owned residential property in Australia (you or your spouse)
- Move into the property within 1 year of settlement
- Live there as your principal residence for at least 1 year
First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)
Queensland also offers a $30,000 regional or $15,000 metro First Home Owner Grant for new homes valued under $750,000. This is separate from the stamp duty concession.
