Do first home buyers get a duty exemption in Tasmania?
Yes. First home buyers get 100% duty exemption on properties up to $750,000 (both new and established homes). This temporary measure expires 30 June 2026.
Are the rates different for investors?
No. Tasmania uses the same rate schedule for all buyers. There is no owner-occupier vs investor distinction.
Does Tasmania have a foreign buyer surcharge?
Yes. Foreign purchasers pay an additional 2% surcharge on the full property value, on top of the standard duty.
