Frequently asked questions
Is adjusted taxable income the same as taxable income?
No. Family assistance ATI starts with taxable income, adds specified amounts such as reportable super contributions and net investment losses, then subtracts deductible child maintenance expenditure.
Why should I compare ATI with my current family income estimate?
Services Australia balances payments using actual income. A materially low estimate can contribute to an overpayment, while a high estimate may reduce fortnightly payments and later produce a top-up.
Should I enter the RFBA from my income statement as adjusted fringe benefits?
Not automatically. Family assistance rules can adjust reportable fringe benefits differently depending on the employer. Confirm the applicable amount before entering it.
Tax Accuracy & Sources
ATI construction and estimate comparison only. It does not calculate final FTB or CCS entitlement, balancing outcomes or employer-specific fringe-benefit adjustments.
