This is the branch that matters — not a tax year. From 01/11/2025 the Aged Care Act 2024 fees apply; before that, the older means tested care fee does.

A couple with one partner entering care is assessed as illness separated: half the combined income and assets belong to each of you.

Includes the Age Pension, deemed income, rent and super income streams.

Super, savings, shares, car and contents.

Aged Care Fees at $300,000, Both Regimes

Both columns describe the same person — single, not a homeowner, $300,000 in assessable assets, $38,368 a year in assessable income. The only thing that differs is the date they entered care, and therefore which fee regime applies.

Accommodation is quoted separately by each home and is not public data, so it is shown here as a status rather than a dollar figure. If you have to negotiate a room price, the RAD/DAP converter turns an advertised lump sum into a daily payment.

FAQ
How much are aged care fees with $300,000 in assets?
Someone entering residential care on or after 1 November 2025 with $300,000 in assessable assets pays an estimated $79.99 a day in care fees — the $66.80 basic daily fee plus $13.19 hotelling contribution and $0.00 non-clinical care contribution. On top of that they face a room price negotiated with the home, on top of the daily fees. Someone who entered before that date pays $73.33 a day instead, because the older means tested care fee of $6.53 a day applies rather than the two new contributions.
With $300k in assets, will the government help with my room?
Your means tested amount decides it. At $300,000 it works out to $85.49 a day under the 1 November 2025 arrangements, against a maximum accommodation supplement of $72.30 a day. That is above the supplement, so you get no government help with accommodation and negotiate a room price with the home.
Does $300k include my house?
This page treats $300,000 as your total assessable assets for a non-homeowner — super, savings, shares, car and contents. If you own a home, it is added on top but only up to the $214,884 home exemption cap, and it is excluded entirely while a protected person such as your partner still lives in it. Enter your home separately in the calculator below to see the difference.
What income does this assume?
The aged care means assessment counts the Age Pension itself as income, plus deemed income on your financial assets. This page assumes exactly that and nothing more: $38,368 a year at $300,000 in assets. If you have a defined-benefit pension, rent or work income on top, your means tested amount and your fees will be higher — add that income in the calculator below.

Own a home as well? Add it in the full fee calculator or price a room as a RAD or DAP.

Tax Accuracy & Sources

Reviewed: 15 August 2026 · Tax year: 2026-27

This page estimates residential aged care fees with $300,000 in total assessable assets for a single non-homeowner, with assessable income modelled as the Age Pension payable at that asset level plus deemed income on the same assets. It uses the same means assessment engine as the full aged care fee calculator. It excludes the family home, special disability trusts, granny flat interests, hardship assistance, respite care and higher everyday living fees, and it does not quote room prices — those are negotiated with each home.
