Aged Care Fees With $1.5m in Assets
What would residential aged care cost with $1.5 million in assessable assets? Both fee regimes, side by side, computed with the official means assessment — plus the full calculator preset to this amount.
This is the branch that matters — not a tax year. From 01/11/2025 the Aged Care Act 2024 fees apply; before that, the older means tested care fee does.
A couple with one partner entering care is assessed as illness separated: half the combined income and assets belong to each of you.
Includes the Age Pension, deemed income, rent and super income streams.
Super, savings, shares, car and contents.
Rates current at 20 March 2026; the next indexation is 20 September 2026. Accommodation costs are on top of these daily fees — use the RAD/DAP converter to price a room.

Tax Accuracy & Sources
This page estimates residential aged care fees with $1.5 million in total assessable assets for a single non-homeowner, with assessable income modelled as the Age Pension payable at that asset level plus deemed income on the same assets. It uses the same means assessment engine as the full aged care fee calculator. It excludes the family home, special disability trusts, granny flat interests, hardship assistance, respite care and higher everyday living fees, and it does not quote room prices — those are negotiated with each home.
