In progressBalancing accountIssued
01
Received or in progress
The ATO has the return and is running its checks. A return can remain in progress while income, withholding, deductions, identity or account details are reviewed.
02
Balancing account
The ATO is finalising the account outcome. Credits may be applied against tax debts or other eligible government debts before any remainder is refunded.
03
Issued or finalised
Read the notice of assessment. It explains taxable income, tax payable, credits, offsets and the final refund or amount owing. If information is wrong, use the amendment pathway rather than lodging a duplicate return.
