Taxable income is a diagnostic clue and is not added to the dollar variance. Confirm the final figures in the ATO notice of assessment and account transaction history.
What this estimate includes
- Uses the figures you enter from the estimate and notice of assessment.
- Ranks the largest changed lines so you can investigate the right issue first.
- Separates diagnostic taxable income from the cash-flow outcome.
- Does not recalculate or override the ATO assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the assessed figures?
Open the notice of assessment in ATO online services. Use the income, tax, Medicare, study-loan, offset and withholding figures shown there.
Why does taxable income not add directly to the variance?
Taxable income explains why the tax calculation changed, but it is not itself a tax charge. The reconciler uses the resulting tax and credit lines to calculate the dollar outcome.
Can an ATO debt reduce a refund?
Yes. A credit may be applied against eligible tax or government debts before any remaining amount is paid.
Does this replace an amendment?
No. It helps locate a difference. If a notice uses incorrect facts, follow the ATO amendment or objection process that applies.
Tax Accuracy & Sources
Reconciles user-entered assessment lines only. It does not reproduce the full ATO assessment, determine whether a debt offset is lawful, or give amendment or objection advice.
