Matching method

A strict filter, not a fallback estimate

The explorer uses only periodic residential mortgage rates in the active dataset. A result must match the selected purpose and repayment type, or the lender must explicitly publish that field as unconstrained. Fixed results must also match the selected fixed period.

Where the CDR rate contains LVR or dollar-balance tiers, your values must fall within the published bounds. If no products match, the explorer shows an empty result rather than substituting a reference rate or relaxing your criteria.

Mortgage rate explorer FAQs

What mortgage data does this explorer use?
It uses public Consumer Data Right product-reference data published by participating Australian lenders. It does not connect to your bank, request consent, or access account, balance, transaction or identity data.
Why can the headline rate and comparison rate differ?
A headline rate is the advertised interest rate. A comparison rate combines interest with certain fees and charges using a prescribed example loan, so it can be more useful for initial comparisons. It may not reflect your loan amount, term or every fee.
Does the lowest result mean I can get that rate?
No. The explorer matches published product attributes, not lender eligibility or credit assessment. Rates can depend on conditions that are not fully represented in product data, and tailored products can vary by borrower. Confirm the current rate, fees, eligibility and terms with the provider.
How are LVR and loan amount used?
Where a lender publishes rate tiers for loan-to-value ratio or loan balance, the explorer keeps only tiers that contain your entered values. Products without a published tier for that dimension remain eligible because the CDR record does not state a narrower boundary.
Can I calculate repayments from a listed rate?
Yes. Select Model rate to open the existing Australian mortgage calculator with the loan amount, selected interest rate and P&I or interest-only setting prefilled. You can then change the loan term, repayment frequency and extra repayments.
